Gregg B. Betheil
Gregg B. Betheil is the Senior Vice President with the National Academy Foundation (NAF), a nonprofit 501(c)3 intermediary organization whose mission is to sustain a national network of career-themed academies, small learning communities, and small schools to support the development of America's youth toward personal and professional success in high school, in higher education, and throughout their careers. NAF provides a full range of technical assistance and program support to all partners in the high school transformation effort.
As a member of the senior management team, Mr. Betheil oversees academy and school operations at NAF, responsible for the oversight and support of NAF's 529 Academies of Finance, Travel & Tourism, and Information Technology nationwide. The Academies enroll over 50,000 students in 40 states and the District of Columbia. His responsibilities include oversight of academy field services, school and district relations, new school development, curriculum and staff development, advisory board development and the internship program. Prior to assuming his current responsibilities, he served as National Director of the Academy of Information Technology.
Prior to joining NAF, Mr. Betheil served as Assistant Principal of Martin Luther King, Jr. High School in New York City. His duties included oversight of the school's technology, community outreach, attendance, and site governance. Prior to assuming administrative responsibilities, Mr. Betheil taught American history and finance for five years and coordinated the Academy of Finance.
Mr. Betheil serves on the steering committee of the National High School Alliance, where he chaired the School and District Innovations working group. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of MOUSE (Making Opportunities for Upgrading Schools and Education) and the National Career Academy Coalition. He is former member of the South Orange-Maplewood Board of Education in New Jersey (2003-2006). Mr. Betheil is a public school graduate and holds a B.A. in Government & Law and History from Lafayette College, a M.A. in Social Studies Education and a M.Ed. in Educational Administration from Columbia University.
