Connie Majka
Connie Majka (cmmajka@academiesinc.org), a founding member of the National Career Academy Coalition, is the Director of Public Relations and National Partnerships for the Philadelphia Academies, Inc., a non-profit intermediary organization that links businesses and post-secondary institutions with 34 academy programs operating within the Philadelphia Public Schools. Connie began her career with the Academies in 1988 as a Program Coordinator, delivering direct services to students and later became a Program Director responsible for the development and management of business involvement in several academies.
Connie was elected NCAC President in 2003.
As a member of the NCAC Executive Committee, Connie plans, coordinates, and markets the annual NCAC conference and serves on the selection committee for the annual Academy Awards. She represents NCAC at many conferences as a spokesperson and oftentimes, as an expert presenter.
She is a recognized authority on the history of the creation and development of Philadelphia academies, which began in 1969. Other requested presentations of hers include “The Intermediary, Supporting and Sustaining Academies” and “Five Clichés for Successful Academies and Business Partners.” [4-Year term starting 2004]
