Jan Struebing
Jan Struebing (jstruebing@sdale.org) is from Springdale, Arkansas and serves her school district as the Career and Technical Coordinator and the Administrator for the Academies. In 2001, Springdale was the first school in the State of Arkansas to start an Academy. Due, in large part, to her work Academies were started throughout the State. A counselor for 25 years, Jan has been instrumental in establishing a nationally recognized “Teachers as Advisors” program, which has been replicated throughout the United States and has conducted national workshops for the High Schools That Work network on counseling and the importance of accountability. An author and producer of career guidance materials, she has written and directed videos that are used in a variety of career fields. Jan was chosen as the Outstanding Counselor Administrator for the State of Arkansas in 2001 and is a two-time recipient of the State of Arkansas “Planning for Life” award given in conjunction with the American School Counselors Association and the U.S. Army. She received her B.S.H.E. from the University of Arkansas and a M.Ed. from Loyola University in New Orleans. (3-year term starting with 2004)
